It’s late August and the Neil Shillinglaw Open, has just been held – what a beautiful morning for a game.
The 1st Tee, between the Pro’s Shop and the Clubhouse – Whinny Bank, 225 Yards from the Medal Tee – with the burn to carry at about 160 – Welcome to Glencorse!
The 5th hole to many will be the Signature Par 3 – to many more – it will be the Signature Par 4!
Macgregor’s Rest, renamed in honour of George Macgregor OBE, a current Glencorse member, will provide a strong test of skill and nerve from the Medal Tee – 237 Yards – with 210 of carry. At SI 7 – many are content with a 4.
The 15th, Whistle Brae, is another challenging Par 3 – at 236 Yards from the Medal Tee. However, perhaps this view is a Fantasy hole – the 18th Green from the 15th Tee – but what a bonny view of the Pentland Hills?
Almost home – the 18th from the Tee. A ball finishing on the Plateau – about 230 yards – makes both the hole play easier – and something to celebrate with your playing partners in the Bar afterwards…
And if you don’t make it to the Plateau – here’s what the green looks like!
Enjoy your round – we did.
